Key Dates for the Firefighter Exam

Examination Fee: $200*
Application Deadline: February 7, 2018*
*There is an additional $50 late fee for applications received after February 7, 2018.
Applications will NOT be accepted after February 21, 2018.

Notices to Appear for ELPAT Emailed: Started emailing late April and will continue through out the summer.

Candidates must take and pass written and ELPAT to receive a final score.
This examination consists of two components which make up your total score; a written examination 50% and an entry-level physical abilities test (ELPAT) 50%.

1. Notice to appear for written examination
7-10 business days before the examination date you will receive a notice to appear by e-mail. The notice will tell you the location and the time to appear for your written test. Please check your junk or spam mail folder for the e-mail before contacting this office.
2. Entry-Level Physical Abilities Test (ELPAT)
You will receive an email notice for the ELPAT in April, 2018.The e-mail will contain your scheduled date and time for the ELPAT which will be held at the Hudson Armory.
Do not confuse this with the Initial-Hire Physcial Abilities Test (PAT) which is for candidates going through the hiring process with a department, they are the same test but scored differently.
Fifty percent of the 2018 Firefighter candidates have taken or been notified of their 2018 ELPAT date. When candidates are scheduled for the entry-level physical abilities test (ELPAT), notice will be sent no less than 2 weeks in advance. ELPAT testing began May 7, 2018 and will continue through out the summer. All candidates will be notified by the middle of August. Do not forget to check your junk/spam email folder as well. 3. Scores - You will receive your examination results in the early Fall
4. Eligible List - When the eligible list is established you will be able to view your rank on the list.
