Intern hours requirement for pharmacist licensure

The Massachusetts Board of Registration in Pharmacy has a 1,500 intern hour requirement for pharmacist licensure.

For 2012 graduates and later

Beginning with 2012 graduates, the Board will consider graduates of Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) colleges/schools of pharmacy to have completely satisfied the 1,500 intern hour requirement. Additionally, the Board will document on applicant and/or licensee records the exact hours submitted on ACPE Verification of Graduation (VOG) forms up to 1,740 hours.

For graduates prior to 2012

For graduates of ACPE colleges/schools of pharmacy through 2011, this requirement consisted of verification of 1,000 rotation hours verified from the ACPE colleges/schools along with preceptor affidavit of verification of 500 additional hours worked on (Massachusetts Intern Forms B & C).

If you want to track additional hours

Massachusetts Pharmacy Interns who desire to continue to register internship hours earned in addition to IPPE/APPE hours in order to meet greater intern hour requirements in other states, may continue to do so by submitting appropriate documentation (Forms B and C) to the Board’s licensing application vendor Professional Credentialing Services (PCS).
