Established in 1952, The Veterans Home at Holyoke, formerly known as the Soldiers' Home in Holyoke, is a state-funded, fully accredited long-term health care facility. Our mission is to provide eligible veterans with exceptional health care, hospice care, and full-time residential accommodations, alongside specialized services like our on-site dental clinic.
Our Facility
- 128-bed Long-Term Nursing Care: We offer comprehensive long-term nursing care tailored to the unique needs of our veteran residents.
- Comfort & Palliative Care: For veterans requiring palliative or hospice care, we provide comfort care that respects dignity and peace.
- Daily Recreation Activities: Engage in a variety of daily activities, from recreation to therapeutic services, to enhance quality of life.
- Therapeutic Services: Access physical, occupational, and speech therapy as part of our integrated health care approach.
- Primary Care: Our resident veterans are under the care of dedicated primary care physicians who oversee their overall health.

In-House Programs
- Barber Shop/Hair Salon: We offer haircuts for men and women, including wash and blow dry services.
- Cherry Hill Exchange: Our on-site store provides residents with clothing, personal items, greeting cards, and more, all free of charge.
- Family Advocate Council Meetings: We facilitate regular meetings to ensure open communication between families and our care team.
- Library/Media Room: Enjoy a quiet space for reading and accessing media resources.
- Recreation & Entertainment: Participate in arts & crafts, musical therapy, exercise & sports, and more.
- Social Work: Access mental health support, advocacy, and end-of-life support, with a strong focus on family and veteran advocacy.
- Spiritual Services: Engage in Bible study, chapel services, prayer groups, and individual spiritual support.
Veteran Advocacy Meetings
Our Veteran Advocacy Meetings allow leadership to gain valuable insights from our residents' diverse perspectives. These monthly meetings play a critical role in enhancing service delivery and improving the quality of care we provide.
Contracted & Outsourced Programs
- Audiology: VA Audiology Clinic provides essential services to veterans experiencing hearing loss.
- Dental Services: Our on-site dental clinic, run in partnership with Holyoke Health Center, offers preventive care, radiographs, oral cancer screenings, and general dentistry services.
- Diagnostic Imaging: Mobilex X-Ray Services provides X-rays, ultrasounds, and EKGs on-site.
- Hospice & Palliative Care: In partnership with providers like Cooley Dickinson Hospice, Baystate Hospice, and Hospice of Fisher Home, we ensure veterans and their families receive compassionate care at the end of life.
- Lab Services: Holyoke Medical Center provides lab services to support our residents' health care needs.
- Pharmacy: Our pharmacy services, managed by Cardinal Health, include vaccine clinics with Big Y.
- Rehab Services: Powerback Rehab offers on-site physical, occupational, and speech therapy.
- Wound Care: Vohra Wound Care delivers advanced wound care services provided by certified physicians.
