Urban River Revitalization

DER works with partners to implement urban river revitalization projects.

Since 1996 The Division of Ecological Restoration (DER) has been an advocate of urban rivers, championing the potential of these often overlooked waterways and promoting their value as natural resources in the midst of a built environment. Urban rivers can play a significant role in improving the livability of our cities. DER works with communities to help address the unique challenges and varied needs of urban rivers and their stewards. If you have an Urban River Project that you would like help with, please review "Become a DER Priority Project." If selected as a DER Priority Project, DER can provide resources to help a community achieve an appropriate level of restoration and urban revitalization. For a better understanding of an Urban River Revitalization project you can read about our work in the Hoosic River and North Nashua River.
