Health Care Provider’s signature.
Electronic Health Care Provider signatures are acceptable by the Departments.
An electronic signature must either:
- be an image of the provider’s signature; or
- provide authentication of the signature such as is required by HIPAA regulations and 21 CFR Part 11.

1 c. x. 1. stipulates: ‘Electronic Signatures are acceptable by the Departments.’
1 c. x. 2. stipulates: ‘An electronic signature is an image of the provider’s signature.’
In addition:
When the Health Care Provider is able to provide authentication of the signature such as is required by HIPAA regulations and 21 CFR Part 11, it will also be an acceptable electronic signature.
