Appeals and hearings at the Department of Transitional Assistance

Applicants and clients have the right to disagree with and file an appeal against certain actions taken by the Department of Transitional Assistance (DTA). This is done through DTA’s Division of Hearings (DOH), an independent unit within DTA.

If you disagree with certain actions or decisions made by DTA, you have the right to appeal. If you request an appeal, a fair hearing will be held, unless the appeal is dismissed for cause.

A fair hearing is a proceeding where the appropriateness of certain DTA decisions can be reviewed by DTA’s Division of Hearings (DOH).
