About the Data

Community Health Equity Survey (CHES)

The Community Health Equity Initiative (CHEI) collects data on Massachusetts residents’ experiences with structural causes of health such as social circumstances, economic situations, and environmental needs. This survey examines the root causes of what facilitates or gets in the way of health. The responses from CHES help point out strengths, gaps, health needs, concerns, and inequities in communities across Massachusetts. Learn more about the 2023 CHES.

Community Impact Survey (CCIS)

Department of Public Health (DPH) staff and stakeholders conducted this survey to better understand the immediate and long-term health needs, including social and economic consequences, facing the Commonwealth due to the COVID-19 pandemic. A deeper understanding of which populations are most impacted helped inform and prioritize resource deployment and policy actions. DPH used and shared these data with community partners to prioritize our pandemic response and to create collaborative solutions. Learn more about the 2020 CCIS.
