The Massachusetts 2050 Transportation Plan

The Commission on Energy Infrastructure Siting and Permitting was established by Governor Maura Healey to provide recommendations for reforms to remove barriers to responsible clean energy infrastructure development.

Across the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, recent increases in electric rates have brought conversations around energy affordability into the spotlight. While the specific causes of rate increases merit a nuanced conversation, the need to use every available tool to put downward pressure on rates is obvious. Given this urgent need, states with ambitious climate goals are challenged to find how the vehicles of decarbonization.

The Forest Carbon Study investigates how Massachusetts forests can help achieve statewide net zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050. The study estimates the relative emissions impacts of different drivers of forest change and land conversion.

Conserving Forest Land and Implementing the Latest Climate-Oriented Forest Management Practices

The Initial EVICC Assessment was provided to the Massachusetts Legislature in August 2023 and provides a strategy for EV charging deployment across the state.

The Massachusetts Executive Office of Energy and Environmental Affairs (EEA) evaluated options for a future building decarbonization clearinghouse that would simplify and streamline the energy efficiency and decarbonization customer experience. The two-year assessment has concluded and is described in the Massachusetts Building Decarbonization Clearinghouse Final Report linked below.

To achieve long-term emission reduction goals within the Commonwealth, the Executive Office of Energy and Environmental Affairs is undertaking a planning process to identify cost-effective and equitable strategies to ensure Massachusetts reduces greenhouse gas emissions by at least 85% by 2050 and achieves net-zero emissions.
