Department of Public Health  

The Massachusetts Department of Public Health prevents illness, injury, and premature death, assures access to high quality public health and health care services, and promotes wellness and health equity for all people in the Commonwealth. We provide programs to address specific diseases and conditions and offer services to address the needs of vulnerable populations. We also develop, implement, promote, and enforce policies to assure that the conditions under which people live are most conducive to health and enable people to make healthy choices.

Department of Public Utilities  

The Department of Public Utilities (DPU) oversees investor-owned electric power, natural gas, and water companies in Massachusetts. In addition, the DPU regulates the safety of bus companies, moving companies, and transportation network companies. We also oversee the safety of natural gas pipelines.

Department of Telecommunications and Cable  

The Department of Telecommunications and Cable oversees the telecommunications and cable industries in Massachusetts, working to ensure that residents receive high-quality communications services at just and reasonable rates while promoting sustainable competition in the communications marketplace.

Department of Transitional Assistance  

The Department of Transitional Assistance (DTA) assists and empowers low-income individuals and families to meet their basic needs, improve their quality of life, and achieve long term economic self-sufficiency. DTA serves one in six residents of the Commonwealth with direct economic assistance (cash benefits) and food assistance (SNAP benefits), as well as workforce training opportunities.

Department of Unemployment Assistance  

At the Department of Unemployment Assistance, we are dedicated to supporting Massachusetts workers through challenging times and assisting employers in navigating the unemployment insurance system. Unemployment insurance provides temporary payments to eligible workers who lose their job through no fault of their own. Individuals must be able and available to work, and actively searching for a job to receive benefits.

Department of Youth Services  

As the Juvenile Justice agency for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, the Department of Youth Services promotes positive change in the youth in our care and custody by engaging in partnerships with communities, families, and government and provider agencies. By working in close collaboration with these entities, we can continue to provide rehabilitative services to youth and help make communities better and safer places to live.

Disabled Persons Protection Commission  

Protects adults ages 18 to 59 with disabilities from abuse or neglect through investigation, oversight, public awareness, and prevention.

District Court  

The District Court Department hears a wide range of criminal, civil, housing, juvenile, mental health, and other types of cases.

Division of Administrative Law Appeals  

The Division of Administrative Law Appeals (DALA) is an independent agency that conducts due process adjudicatory hearings for other Massachusetts state administrative agencies.

Division of Apprentice Standards  

The Massachusetts Division of Apprentice Standards is a State Apprenticeship Agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Labor. We are responsible for supporting, promoting, developing, and servicing Massachusetts Registered Apprenticeship Programs on behalf of the Executive Office of Labor and Workforce Development. We help create rewarding career pathways for jobseekers and empower employers to build a diverse and skilled workforce.
