Overview
Join the Universal Access Program for accessible small group hiking at Beaver Brook Reservation! This hike will be a disability history hike, focusing on the important disability history in this area of the former Walter E. Fernald Developmental Center and Metropolitan State Hospital. Depending on timing, there may be a visit to MetFern Cemetery.
During this program, run by our partner Waypoint Adventure, you’ll see stunning forests, view ponds/waterways, eat lunch, and connect with new people. You’ll benefit from our selection of adaptive equipment, receive instruction to meet any learning style, and be encouraged to reach your individual goals.
Due to the sensitive nature of content discussed on this hike, this hike is not appropriate for children.
Space is limited and pre-registration is required. Registration ends August 20, 2026.
