      1. 527 CMR 12.00, 710.15(A) & 702.4(A)(2)(a) submitted by Paul McGrath received November 16, 2025.

        Question #1:

        Are stationary, fixed-in-place, Battery Energy Storage Systems located in a single-family dwelling allowed to be sized in accordance with NEC 710.15(A)?

        Question #2:

        Are stationary, fixed-in-place, Battery Energy Storage Systems located in a single-family dwelling required to be sized for the full calculated load as outlined in NEC 702.4(A)(2)(a)?

        Question #3:

        Are stationary, fixed-in-place, Battery Energy Storage Systems required to be sized and evaluated under NEC Articles 705, 706, and 710, and not under NEC Article 702 (Optional Standby Systems)?

      2. 527 CMR 12.00, 210.12(E) submitted by Sean Conroy received December 20, 2025.

        Question #1:

        Is the purpose 210.12(E) to require AFCI protection to be added if replacing a bathroom fan?

        Question #2:

        Is the purpose 210.12(E) to require AFCI protection to be added if replacing a receptacle outlet?

        Question #3:

        Is the purpose 210.12(E) to require AFCI protection to be added if replacing a light fixture?

        Question #1:

        What does the NEC define as a new kitchen or a kitchen remodel that would require the kitchen electrical to be updated to the current standards?

        Question #2:

        Is a 2 car garage that is fed from a separate services and separated by a fire wall required to have 2 emergency disconnects grouped together?

      4. 527 CMR 12.00, 141 sec 1 1A submitted by Kevin McKeown received December 24, 2025.

        Question #1:

        Is it required to have an electrical license to install a #6 ground wire from a ground bar in a tel/data closet to the tel/data rack and install all necessary lugs?

        Question#2:

        336.10 tray cable. Is tray cable type tc-er-jp allowed to be installed in a multifamily building above 2 units?

      5. 527 CMR 12.00, 230.85 Exception #2, submitted by Thomas Colligan received January 5, 2026.

        Can the line voltage control wiring share the same “raceway” with the service lateral or service conductors?

      6. 527 CMR 12.00, 210.63, resubmission by Justin Huber received January 9, 2026.

        Question #1:

        In a single family dwelling does a GFCI protected outlet that is located inside the dwelling, on the same level as the exterior equipment, and within twenty five (25) feet satisfy the service outlet required?

        Question #2:

        In a multi family dwelling does a GFCI protected outlet that is located inside the dwelling, on the same level as the exterior equipment, and within twenty five (25) feet satisfy the service outlet required?

      7. 527 CMR 12.00, Article 690, resubmitted by Ed Sepanski received January 27, 2026.

        Is there a requirement in 690 that a ‘rapid shutdown test’ be performed by the licensed PV installer? Y-N

        Background: AHJ’s throughout the Commonwealth require solar installers to demonstrate, as the AHJ watches, that after opening the “Photovoltaic System Disconnect Means” (690.13) or the “Rapid Shutdown Switch” (690.12) depending on the AHJ, that the voltage on the DC side of the inverter falls to 30 volts in 30 seconds. They have made this a condition of passing the inspection.

      8. 527 CMR 12.00, 700.10(D)(2), submitted by Besmir Sulejmani received January 28, 2026.

        If an Emergency feeder is run on the exterior of a building (exposed and above grade) from an exterior, Emergency (life-safety) generator to an interior Emergency (life-safety) panelboard, is 2-hour fire-rated protection required prior to entering the building interior?

      9. 527 CMR 12.00, 210.12, submitted by David Cooper received January 29, 2026.

        Would any part of 210.12 be in effect when no walls are opened in an area (for example a kitchen)? A backsplash is added over the existing wall. Devices are not replaced. Wiring is not extended. No wiring is changed.

      10. 527 CMR 12.00, submitted by Arthur Pedini Jr. received February 6, 2026.

        Question #1:

        In a Residential building, does the code allow any electrical panel to be placed behind a door or is this a violation?

        Question #2:

        In a Commercial building, does the code allow any electrical panel to be installed behind a door?

      11. 527 CMR 12.00, 110.26 A1, submitted by Brian Leary received February 9, 2026.

        Question #1:

        In regards to 110.26A1, Does this code article apply for access to the wiring compartment of a electrical heat pump?

        Question #2:

        In Regards to 110.26A1 would the working clearances change if the wiring compartment is less than required and blocked by another heat pump?
