Overview of First Day Hike 2024: Wachusett Reservoir
Celebrate the New Year with a First Day Hike at Wachusett Reservoir as we traverse the shores and trails of the Reservoir and learn the history behind the water supply that provides clean drinking water to over 3 million people in Massachusetts.
Attendees, please meet at Gate 22 on Rt 140 in West Boylston. GPS address is 167 Temple St. The hike starts at 11 a.m. and is approximately two miles round trip.
Be prepared for cold weather: dress in layers and wear winter boots. If conditions permit, bring snowshoes and hiking poles.
Dogs are not allowed on water supply protection lands. Service dogs are welcome.
Hike will be a slow pace and last about 2 hours. In the case of inclement weather, hike may be cancelled or modified. To check on hike status please call 617-352-4044 or email Kathryn.Parent@mass.gov.
