From outcomes to evidence: How do we know whether intended outcomes are happening?

Thursday, February 11, 2027, from 1-2 pm. Note: To register you will need a free, basic Zoom account. Link follows in the description.

Overview

Measuring outcomes helps us understand whether the changes we care about are happening. Instead of just tracking numbers or reporting progress, we use evidence to inform better decisions. The challenge is measuring meaningful things instead of simply the easiest things to count.

This session explores how to move from outcomes to measurement questions and indicators. Together, we'll consider:

  • What makes an indicator useful
  • How to think about data sources and limitations
  • How evidence can be used to support better decisions

The Experience Research (XR) Community of Practice brings together experience researchers and anyone who conducts or supports research to learn, share, and connect. It focuses on constituent-centered research and is open to employees of state organizations.
