Public Meeting Notice Knox Trail Bridge Replacement (Otis, MA) Public Meeting 10/15/2026
Overview
DCR is proposing to replace an existing suspension bridge in poor condition in Otis, MA. The existing pedestrian/snowmobile bridge spans the Farmington River and connects Route 8 to existing snowmobile trails on DCR land. This crossing is part of the historic General Knox Trail, a 300-mile trail and road from Fort Ticonderoga, NY to Boston, MA.
In this meeting, DCR will present a project overview, existing conditions, and a concept design that takes into account user needs, technical and permitting requirements to build a new trail bridge that will offer year-round access to hikers, mountain bikers, snowmobilers, equestrians, and cross-country skiers.
The public will be invited to provide comments during the meeting, after the presentation. After the meeting, the presentation will be available for viewing on DCR’s Past events for DCR Public Meetings Information web page. DCR encourages the public to share additional feedback, with a deadline for receipt of comments by DCR of October 29th, 2026. Comments may be submitted via the DCR public comment portal. Please note that the content of comments you submit to DCR, along with your name, town, and zip code, will be posted on DCR's website. Additional contact information required when commenting, notably email address, will only be used for outreach on future updates on the subject project or property.
