Overview
Throughout July we invite you to celebrate 70 years of MassAbility service with our first MassAbility photo contest! Former and current participants and providers are welcome to engage in this contest. Submissions will be accepted from 7/13 through 8/2. All accepted submissions will be displayed in a special group installment at the Massachusetts State House. Winners may be featured in future marketing, public relations and media use across the agency.

Contest Themes:
- Pathways to Work
- Show what employment, career exploration, education, or vocational training looks like. This could be someone learning new skills, succeeding on the job, preparing for work, participating in an internship, or reaching a career milestone. Celebrate the many paths to meaningful employment and economic independence.
- Examples:
- On-the-job training
- Apprenticeships/ internships
- Classroom or skills training
- Workplace achievements
- Career fairs or interviews
- Living in my Community
- Capture moments that show independence, connection, and belonging throughout your community. Whether it’s community activism, volunteering, recreations, navigating transportation, using assistive technology, or participating in local events, this category celebrates individuals with disabilities living full and engaged lives.

- Navigating public transportation
- Building community
- Recreation, hobbies, or sports
- Volunteering
- Celebrating independent living milestones
- Using assistive technology
- Stronger Together
- Celebrate the partnerships and relationships that make success possible. Showcase collaboration between the people that mean the most to you: participants, families, friends, providers, employers, coworkers, educators, or MassAbility staff working together to support opportunity, inclusion, and achievement

- A job coach supporting a participant
- A team celebrating success
- Employer partnerships
- Mentorship
- Collaborative problem-solving
- Family, PCA and caregiver supporting milestones
- Working with a service animal
- Receiving physical therapy
Submission Criteria & Application
Apply now through our Photography Contest Submission Form.
All entries must:
- Be submitted by a current or former MassAbility participant or providers
- Fit within one of the three contest categories
- Pathways to Work
- Living in My Community
- Stronger Together
- Be an original photograph taken by the person submitting it
- Include a title and a description explaining how the photo reflects the selected category and the story behind the photo
- Be submitted as a high-resolution digital image (JPEG or PNG)
- Photos may be in color or black and white and may be lightly edited for brightness, contrast, or cropping.
- AI-generated images or images partially generated by AI are not eligible.
- Entries should reflect dignity, respect, inclusion, and authentic experiences connected to MassAbility’s mission
- Participants may submit one photo per category (up to three total submissions)
