MFA Descriptive Tour on Zoom
Overview
The July descriptive tour will consider examples by artists who briefly capture the spirit of Water. The subject of Water evokes many associations and emotions. Last month, the Museum of Fine Arts (MFA) contemplated Hokusai’s woodcut “The Great Wave” which shows a towering curving claw of seawater in a suspenseful moment before it engulfs fishermen in their fragile, wooden boats. The MFA also remembered, when experienced from a safe distance, how restorative the white noise of a dashing mountain waterfall can be. This month the MFA will examine the many ways water is represented in art, in sculpture, photography, painting and beautifully crafted objects that are used to contain water.
