MFA Descriptive Tour on Zoom - Hokusai: Inspiration and Influence
Overview
For June’s tour, the Museum of Fine Arts (MFA) will explore a few objects from the current MFA exhibition Hokusai: Inspiration and Influence which illustrate his significance in the art world, his legacy lasting centuries, and how it continues to influence artists today. Hokusai (1760-1849) was a Japanese artist whose work is known as central to the Japanese art of woodblock printing. His renowned Thirty-Six Views of Mount Fuji tells the story of the Japanese landscape, seasons, and light in nature. He created hundreds if not thousands of pieces of art across a wide range of themes and subjects. During the tour, the MFA will also examine how his works inspired the works of other artists up until the present day.
