Overview of Parenting in Recovery as a Catalyst for Change

Join Kelly English, Director of the Children’s Behavioral Health Knowledge Center, at Mass DMH for a screening of a brief video detailing the poignant stories of parents in recovery from mental health challenges and substance misuse.
Developed by the Center of Excellence for Psychosocial and Systemic Research at the Mass General Hospital, this peer-led initiative is intended to help raise awareness of the challenges that parents who struggle with behavioral health concerns face including stigma, shame, and balancing their own recovery with taking care of their children.
Following the video screening, a panel of parents in recovery will join Dr. English for a Q & A session where attendees will have the opportunity to hear live from parents about how they dealt with their issues and maintained a relationship with their children.
This event is being held virtually.
