Overview   of Public Hearing for Berkshire Gas Forecast & Supply Plan (DPU 24-180)

The Department is conducting an online public hearing on the Berkshire Gas Company’s Long-Range Forecast and Supply Plan for the for the period November 1, 2024 through October 31, 2029.

The Berkshire Gas Company is a local gas distribution company that provides natural gas service to approximately 40,000 residential, commercial, and industrial customers in 20 western Massachusetts communities.  Pursuant to G.L. c. 164, § 69I, the Department must ensure a necessary gas supply for the Commonwealth at the lowest possible cost. 

The Company states that its current forecasting and resource planning processes are appropriate and continue to provide customers with reliable, least-cost service that has a minimum impact upon the environment.  The Company’s Long-Range Forecast and Supply Plan has no impact on current customer rates and the Company does not anticipate any rate changes resulting from this Plan. The purpose of the public hearing is to allow any interested persons to be heard on the company's petition.

The public hearing scheduled for 2:00 p.m. on January 14, 2025, will be held virtually. Attendees can join by entering using the Zoom link from a computer, smartphone, or tablet.
