About the Speaker

Griffin Pinkow was diagnosed with retinitis pigmentosa (RP), a retinal degenerative disease, at the age of 12. While playing baseball, he noticed difficulty seeing balls in the outfield, which led to his diagnosis. Before learning about RP, he attributed his poor night vision to minor issues, but the diagnosis revealed a much larger challenge. By the time he finished high school, Griffin accepted that he couldn’t change the fate of his vision and began focusing on overcoming his visual impairment.

In college, Griffin worked with several organizations representing the visually impaired. Though he enjoyed this work, he realized these organizations focused primarily on research rather than on helping individuals live fulfilling lives without sight. This realization inspired him to take action.

In 2013, while attending Susquehanna University, Griffin started laying the groundwork for the Foreseeable Future Foundation. The foundation’s mission is to enhance the lives of visually impaired individuals through sports and recreation. Griffin is dedicated to helping the visually impaired lead fulfilling lives and raising public awareness about the challenges faced by the blind. The foundation is committed to bringing the sighted and sightless communities together and creating a mutually beneficial network for everyone.
