Overview

Join us in viewing the Six Triple Eight movie, a film by Tyler Perry based on the heroic true story of the 6888thCentral Postal Directory Battalion.

About the Film

In the winter of 1945, 855 African American soldiers from the US Army's Women's Army Corps (WACs) were sent to England and France to resolve the backlog of two-years’ worth of mail. Despite racism and sexism, the Six Triple Eight managed to clear over 17 million pieces of mail, thus raising morale for service members and their families across the globe.  In 2022, the Six Triple Eight were awarded the Congressional Gold Medal by President Biden.

This movie stars Kerry Washington as Major Charity Adams.

Light refreshments will be provided.
