Overview   of Whately - Rehabilitation of Haydenville Road

A Live Virtual Design Public Hearing will be published on the MassDOT website below to present the design for the proposed Rehabilitation of Haydenville Road, from the bridge structure located approximately 150 feet south of the Conway Road intersection to The Williamsburg T.L. (1.5 Miles) project in Whately, MA.

Purpose:

The purpose of this hearing is to provide the public with the opportunity to become fully acquainted with the proposed Rehabilitation of Haydenville Road project. All views and comments submitted in response to the hearing will be reviewed and considered to the maximum extent possible.

Proposal:

The proposed project consists of reclaiming the existing paved surface, box widening with a hot mix asphalt binder course and paving with a hot mix asphalt modified top surface course. Work will include new drainage systems and improve storm water quality near the Northampton Reservoir, new pavement markings and guardrail repair and replacement, and slope work. The project limits for Haydenville Road are from the bridge structure located approximately 150 feet south of the Conway Road intersection to the Williamsburg Town Line for a total project length of 1.5 miles. The roadway typical section will consist of 10-foot travel lanes with 4-foot uniform shoulders to calm traffic and improve usable space and accommodations for pedestrians and bicyclists.

A secure right-of-way is necessary for this project. Acquisitions in fee and permanent or temporary easements may be required. The Town of Whately is responsible for acquiring all needed rights in private or public lands. MassDOT’s policy concerning land acquisitions will be presented in the hearing.

Project inquiries, written statements and other exhibits regarding the proposed undertaking may be submitted to Carrie E. Lavallee, P.E., Acting Chief Engineer, via e-mail to MassDOTProjectManagement@dot.state.ma.us or via US Mail to Suite 6340, 10 Park Plaza, Boston, MA 02116, Attention: Project Management, Project File No. 605983.
