Guide MILO Force Control Simulator Instructor Certification

Instructor certification certifies officers on the operations and use of the Range 3000/MILO simulation training system, enabling them to independently use it to provide training to police officers. Instructor recertification is required every three (3) years.

LEVEL I - MPTC BASIC MILO INSTRUCTOR

Instructors who provide training within their respective departments or to other departments but do not instruct for the MPTC.

Requirements for Certification:

  • A minimum of three (3) years of Law Enforcement experience.
  • Successfully complete the 2-day MILO Basic Setup, Calibration and Operation Course.

Recertification:

  • Every three (3) years, expiring on anniversary of certification. Must re-apply for certification through MPTC.

LEVEL II - MPTC ASSISTANT INSTRUCTOR

Assist in MPTC Recruit Reserve Intermittent and In-Service Academy instruction.

  • Cannot instruct as Lead Instructor or Coach/Evaluator.

Requirements for Certification:

  • Meet the requirements for an MPTC Level I Instructor
  • Successfully complete at least one (1) of the following MPTC courses: Use of Force Course, Firearms Instructors Course and/or Defensive Tactics Instructor Course.

Recertification:

  • Every three (3) years, expiring on anniversary of certification. Must re-apply for Certification through MPTC and must document at least 24 hours instructing as a level II Assistant Instructor over a three (3) year period in a Recruit and/or Professional Development Training setting.

LEVEL III - MPTC LEAD INSTRUCTOR

Instruct in any Agency or MPTC Setting as an Operator or Coach/Evaluator.

  • Teach MILO Operator Courses to Level I and II Operators.
  • Maintain Student Rosters, Course Evaluation Forms and Submit Course Certificates of Completion.

Requirements for Certification:

  • Meet the requirements for an MPTC Level I and II Instructor
  • Complete at least, twenty-four hours instructing as a Level II Instructor over a three (3) year period in a Recruit and/or Professional Development Training setting.

Recertification:

  • Every three (3) years, expiring on anniversary of certification. Must re-apply for Certification through MPTC and must document at least 24 hours instructing as a level III Instructor over a three (3) year period in a Recruit and/or Professional Development Training setting.

 

 

LEVEL IV - MPTC MASTER INSTRUCTOR

Instruct in any Agency or MPTC Setting.

  • Teach MILO Operator and Coach/Evaluator Courses.
  • Maintain Student Rosters and Course Evaluation Forms and Submit Course Certificates of Completion
  • Make Site Visits as necessary.
  • Setup and Install manufacturer supplied hardware and software upgrades as needed.
  • Provide timely service to systems as needed.
  • Update and Develop MILO Course Materials.

Requirements for Certification:

  • Meet the requirements for an MPTC Level I and II
  • A minimum of three (3) years as an active Lead Instructor.
  • Submit Application, including resume, dates and hours worked as a Level III Instructor to be reviewed for approval by MILO State Wide Coordinator.
  • Attend a System Hardware/Software Upgrade Class as needed, when available.

Recertification:

Every three (3) years, expiring on anniversary of certification. Must re-apply for Certification through MPTC and must document at least 24 hours instructing as a level IV Instructor over a three (3) year period in a Recruit and/or Professional Development Training setting.

  • Attend a System Hardware/Software Refresher Upgrade Class when available.
  • Attend a Scenario and Coach/Evaluator Upgrade Class as required when available.

MILO State Wide Coordinator has the full authority and discretion when approving or denying all applications and recertification’s.
