Human immunodeficiency virus (HIV)

HIV weakens a person’s immune system by destroying important cells that fight disease and infection. There is no cure for HIV, but with proper medical care, HIV can be controlled. There are ways to keep from getting HIV and to prevent passing HIV to others.
