Anti-Freeze Permit Application Details and Links

No anti-freeze shall be sold, offered for sale, or held with intent to sell within the commonwealth unless a sample thereof has been inspected by this division and a permit for the sale thereof has been issued by the division.

What you need

If registering for first time or submitting a new formulation please note: 

  • You need to start a new application, click here to register.

  • A 4 oz sample of each antifreeze product must be sent to the Massachusetts Divisions of Standards Metrology Laboratory at 250 Eliot Street Suite 10-D Ashland, MA 01721.
  • Please include with your samples a color copy of both the front and back labels of the 1 Gallon Container of each product that will be sold at retail. Once you have submitted an online application you will receive an email with more details. 
  • YOUR APPLICATION WON’T BE COMPLETED UNTIL THE SAMPLE IS SUBMITTED AND TESTED WITH A “PASS” RESULT. 

Remember, if you already have a permit but you are submitting a NEW FORMULATION, A NEW REGISTRATION MUST BE SUBMITTED. 

If renewing and the formulation has not changed you can login into the Registration Portal as a "Returning User" 

Fees

$25.00

All Antifreeze Permits expire annually on June 30th, regardless of when the Permit was approved.

All fees are non-refundable

Only money orders or checks (personal, business or bank check) are accepted. Make checks payable to the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.

Cash and credit/debit cards are not accepted.
