Apply for a license to operate a food or beverage vending machine

You must have a license from the Division of Food Protection (DFP) to operate a food and/or beverage vending machine.

What you need

To apply for a license, you will need to:

  • Complete and sign the entire online application form (found in the links below)
  • Submit a list of all machines, include street address and location within the building.
  • Submit labels for all products to be sold in Massachusetts

An easily readable label or sign bearing the operator’s license number, company name and service telephone number shall be conspicuously displayed at each machine location.

Fees

Pay by credit card or electronic fund transfer using the Environmental Health eLicensing Portal.

How to apply

Go to the Environmental Health eLicensing Portal  and create an account, or log into your existing account. If this is your first time using this new portal, please visit BCEH eLicensing System User Guide.

This permit is in accordance with Massachusetts General Law, Chapter 94, Section 309 and 105 CMR 590.000.

The license excludes all non-food and cigarette vending machines.
