What you need
To renew or apply for a license:
To sell firearms, ammunition, or to be a gunsmith you must apply for a license. Applications must be submitted to the police department where your shop or club is located.
You can now apply Online via the MIRCS Unified Gun Portal.
To apply directly to your local police department, you will need to submit:
- A completed License to Sell Firearms and Ammunition, Club License to Sell Ammo, or Gunsmith application
- The required application fee
- Complete the Firearms Dealer Online Training course
- A form of identification
- Additional documentation as required by your local licensing authority

* Gunsmith license has no fee if applicant has a license to sell firearms and ammunition
** Club license to sell ammunition is only available to gun clubs or ranges.

Your complete application package, including fee, may be brought to your local licensing authority in the city or town where your shop is located. Contact your local firearms licensing officer for additional information prior to submitting your application.

You will be ocntacted by your local licensing authority when your license or renewal has been processed and is available for pickup.
