What you need for Apprentice Sheet Metal Worker License Application
To complete an application, enter all required information and upload the following documents:
- A 2” x 2” color passport-style photo
- A Statement of Employing Master Form
- A CORI Authorization Form
- (If Applicable) Certificates of completion for any Board-approved Training. Apprentice applicants that have completed education from a Board approved sheet metal training program or Board approved Massachusetts Vocational School may be eligible for credit towards journeyperson licensure. Please upload a copy of your diploma, certificate of completion, or transcripts along with your online application.
Applicants must be employed by a master licensee, be of good moral character and be at least 17 years of age.
Fees for Apprentice Sheet Metal Worker License Application
This fee is not refundable. Active military members, their spouses & military veterans may qualify for fee-reduction benefits under the Valor Act.

Incomplete applications will only remain open for 180 days after which they will be closed, and a new application and fee is required.
Apprentice applicants that have out of state, out of country or other non-Board approved sheet metal training, education or work experience should contact the Board office for information on applying for credit towards journeyperson licensure. No credit will be given for work experience in Massachusetts after February 19, 2011 without being a licensed apprentice employed by a master sheet metal worker.
If you are ineligible for a Social Security Number, contact the Board for instructions.
