When parties in municipal police or fire negotiations believe that they have reached an impasse in negotiating a collective bargaining agreement, either party or both parties jointly may file a petition requesting that the JLMC intervene and assist.

DLR Initial Steps

Once a petition is filed, we assign it a case number and a mediator.  We then send the parties a letter informing them of the mediator's assignment.  Within 5 days of the assignment, the mediator contacts the parties to schedule a first meeting.
