What you need   for Request advice about how the conflict of interest law applies to you

You may call the Commission to request confidential advice from the Attorney of the Day. The attorney will call you back within 1 to 2 business days.  

You may send the Commission a request for written advice. You will receive a written response within 30 days.  

Using the online form

You may also request telephone or written advice by using an online form. The form is a fillable PDF so you must have Adobe Acrobat Reader available on your computer or mobile device. The completed form will attach to an email to be sent to the Commission so you will need to have your email account open. 

Please note that you may need to enable a browser extension to open Acrobat Acrobat Reader. Please refer to these instructions if you need assistance.

Please note that we cannot provide: 

  1. Any advice about conduct that has already occurred; 
  2. Any advice about someone else's conduct, unless you have permission from that person to get advice on their behalf; or 
  3. Any original materials submitted in support of requests for legal advice.

If you are requesting a call back from the Attorney of the Day, you should hear back from an attorney within 1 to 2 business days.

If you are requesting written advice, you should receive a written response from an attorney within 30 days.

Call the State Ethics Commission at (617) 371-9500 and ask to speak to the Attorney of the Day.  

The attorney will call you back within 1 to 2 business days.
