The Details   of GIS Data Development

Features   for GIS Data Development

Create GIS data for display or analysis in a GIS or in web or mobile mapping applications from existing maps, from certain kinds of tabular data, or from aerial imagery. Assist with developing specifications for procuring GIS data development services. Examples:

1) Scan an existing map and use GIS tools to create the equivalent content for use in GIS software or mapping applications

2) An Excel spreadsheet containing addresses or point values such as latitude and longitude can be turned into a point layer that can be displayed on top of other GIS data such as aerial photos, wetlands, etc.

3) Use software tools to analyze imagery and map specific features. For example, MassGIS mapped solar arrays statewide using software and aerial imagery. MassGIS can also work with a customer to understand their data development needs and then assist with developing specifications for use in an RFQ to GIS Service Providers on the relevant state contract or to include in an RFR.
