What you need
A limited license is issued to physicians enrolled in postgraduate training programs in Massachusetts health care facilities. This information applies only to renewals with a change in the training program.

How to renew
You may renew online by creating an account on our license management system at medboard.mass.gov, and linking your account to your license.
Limited Licensees changing their postgraduate education program will be invited by the training program, and upon invitation will have to option to renew online under the new program by selecting "Renew my Physician Limited License - Change of Program" and clicking on "Complete Application". Note that this will not be available in your user account until you have been invited by the training program.
You will find detailed instructions to guide you through the renewal process. You will be able to upload any required documents, and pay the renewal fee via Credit Card or ACH transfer.

Although we encourage all applicants to renewonline, you may request a paper application by calling the Board at 781-876-8230.
Please note that submitting a paper application may lead to SIGNIFICANT additional processing times for the review and approval of your renewal.
