If you know or suspect that a child is being abused or neglected, please report it immediately. Anyone can file a report of abuse or neglect.

Mandated reporters

People in certain professions, such as teachers, doctors, and social workers, must report child abuse when they know or suspect it. Massachusetts law calls these people mandated reporters.

All mandated reporters must mail or fax a written report using the Child Abuse Reporting Form within 48 hours of making the initial verbal report.

Call immediately

If a child is in immediate danger, call 911.

Otherwise, call the Child-At-Risk-Hotline: 1 (800) 792-5200.

During regular office hours (8:45 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. M-F) call the DCF office that serves the city or town where the child lives.

Fax the completed Child Abuse Reporting Form to the DCF area office that serves the city or town where the child lives.

Mail the completed Child Abuse Reporting Form to the DCF area office that serves the city or town where the child lives.
