Presentation Topics

Presentations are aimed at educating Massachusetts residents on consumer protection issues and services provided by the Office of Consumer Affairs and Business Regulation. We work with community partners to provide bilingual presentations. So far we have offered sessions in languages including Spanish, Portuguese, Haitian Creole, Mandarin, and Russian.  

Credit Card Skimming Devices

Attendees learn about credit and debit card skimming devices as well as tips on how to spot skimming devices found at gas stations, ATMs, and elsewhere.

Identity Theft and Fraud Prevention

Attendees learn how to recognize and avoid email, text, and other scams, how to prevent identity theft, and what to do if their identity is compromised.

Home Improvement Contractor Program

Attendees learn about how the Home Improvement Contractor (HIC) Program protects consumers, the importance of looking up contractor registration and history, how to file a complaint, and how to apply to the HIC Arbitration and Guaranty Fund Programs.
