View and protest benefit charges

Learn how to access your benefit charge statement online and protest charges if you believe they are incorrect.
If you wish to protest charges, you must do so on the first statement in which the charges appear. Protests must be submitted within 30 days from the statement date on which the charges first appear.

What you need

To view your benefit charge statement, you will need the email, password, and Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) method you use to log in to Unemployment Services for Employers.

If you wish to protest charges, you will also need:

  • Claimant Social Security number
  • Claimant last name
  • Last day of employment
  • The benefit charge statement receive date
  • The reason for the protest

How to view

How to view your benefit charge statement

  1. Once logged into Unemployment Services for Employersselect Additional Services.
  2. On the Correspondence panel, select View Letters
    1. To review letters received in the last 12 months, view the information on the Received tab.
    2. To review letters received more than 12 months ago, view the information on the Search tab, and enter a date range the Benefit Charge Statement was received between.

Note: You can enter benefit charge into the Filter field to narrow down the letters displayed. 

  1. Click Benefit Charges Statement in the Letter Name column to review the contents of the letter.

How to protest benefit charges

  1. Once logged into Unemployment Services for Employers, under Employer Information select View more employer details
  2. Select Additional actions
  3. On the Protest a charge panel, select Protest a charge statement
  4. Follow the system prompts to provide the reason you a protesting the charge

How to view your benefit charge statement

If you have selected to receive your correspondence by mail, your benefit charge statement will be sent to the address you provided.

How to protest benefit charges

To protest charges on your benefit charge statement, you must complete the Request for Review of Charges form that is attached to your statement. Return your completed form to the address provided.

After you submit your protest

Once the protest is reviewed, you may be required to fill out a questionnaire if additional information is needed. After all relevant information is received, DUA will issue a result to the protest using your preferred correspondence method.
