About OREI

DMH is committed to becoming an anti-racist organization. We say “becoming” because we know that this is a journey, and that this is a work in progress. This commitment requires an examination of:

  • The policies which contribute to the perpetuation of systemic racism;
  • The practices that we engage in on a daily basis which bolster those systems and further oppress People of Color; and
  • The ways that each of us, on a personal level, can actively dismantle White Supremacy and promote Racial Justice.”

OREI combines two previously separate offices – the office of the Diversity Officer and the Office of Multicultural Affairs. Thus, OREI serves as the Civil Rights arm of the agency and works to ensure access and equity for all persons, including those who are in a Protected Class.
