Partnership Overview

The Buzzards Bay Watershed Restoration Partnership (BBWRP) was founded in 2021 as one of the first pilot DER Restoration Partnerships supported by DER. Located in the South Coast of Massachusetts in the watershed flowing into Buzzards Bay.   

Lead Partnership Sponsor: The Lead Partnership Sponsor, the organization which is contracted with DER and coordinates the Partnership, is Buzzards Bay Coalition.   

BBWRP works closely with many municipalities, land trusts, and conservation districts within their region to advance Partnership restoration work which meets the needs of the communities.

Partnership Vision

Bay watershed communities that value, support and actively work to advance the restoration of critical natural resources in the region.   

Partnership Actions

Buzzards Bay Watershed Restoration Partnership is currently: 

  • Building regional restoration collaboration for the Buzzards Bay region.
  • Advancing 2 dam removals.
  • Advancing 8 culvert replacements.
  • Advancing 4 coastal wetland/cranberry bog restorations.
  • Advancing 1 floodplain restoration.
  • Engaging 14 communities and over 30 partner organizations on projects throughout the region.

Meet the Restoration Coordinator

Eveyln Mortimer, Buzzards Bay Coalition: Evelyn coordinates ecological restoration projects throughout Buzzard Bay. After earning a bachelor's degree in environmental engineering from Worcester Polytechnic Institute, she gained experience in water resource engineering and stormwater quality analysis. She enjoys being outside spending a day on the water.
