Byrne State Crisis Intervention Program

The Byrne State Crisis Intervention Program (Byrne SCIP) provides funds gun violence intervention and prevention programs.

Overview

Through the Byrne SCIP funding opportunity for municipal law enforcement, OGR will make funds available for eligible local police departments state agencies to prevent or reduce acts of gun violence through the implementation of evidence-based strategies and promising programming. This grant emphasizes addressing individuals currently at risk of gun violence, with a specific focus on prevention and intervention rather than supporting enforcement projects or responsive or investigative programs.

Programs/activities exclusively focused on responding to crimes in progress or that have already been committed are not considered crisis intervention and are not eligible for funding.

This program is made available through funding awarded through the federal Byrne State Crisis Intervention Program, as authorized by the Bipartisan Safer Communities Act of 2022.

Eligibility

This is a continuation funding opportunity. Only a Massachusetts state agency or municipal law enforcement department that previously received funding through this program is eligible to apply. Applications from other organizations will not be considered for funding.
