Christopher L. Austin, Jr.

Christopher was passionate about his family, his hair, and producing music. He was a fast learner. He walked at 7 months, read at age 3, and talked so well we called him Mister. He spent hours perfecting his waves. He admired 'Soulja Boy' and played his music often. He graduated from Madison Park HS in 2016. He worked for MassDot's MBTA STEM Summer Youth program. He got his driver's license in 2015. He was certified in Comp TIA in 2014. He was an Earn-A-Bike instructor with Bikes Not Bombs in 2011. He attended Outward Bound Boys' Rites of Passage 12-day Island Sailing in 2009. He received his F1 Boston Junior Car Racing Novice license in 2005, and he was on the Pop Warner Mattapan Patriots football team in 2004. He was also an entrepreneur. He had an online sneaker business. He bought sneakers from China and resold them. He had Kanye West's sneakers that sold for $1,500. He made his own hair care product, and he made and sold beats on Sound Cloud. Every day, you could hear him creating music in his room. He turned his closet into a studio. The night before he was killed, I came home and found money pushed under my bedroom door. In the morning, he told me that he gave it to me, and he would have given me more if they hadn't messed up his check. The next day around 9:30 a.m., he was on his way to work as a bagger at Logan Airport. He was walking down Ashmont Street when he was shot. Two people were arrested, and one was let go.
