As part of your WorkShare application, you will need to provide specific information about your plans, including:
- How much you’re reducing hours
- Start and end dates for your plan
- Which employees are included
You will be asked for this information as part of your WorkShare application.
Reducing hours
Determine how much you need to reduce hours for the length of your WorkShare plan. You can reduce hours by as little as 10% or as much as 60%.
Start and end dates
Decide how long your WorkShare plan needs to be in place to meet your goals:
- Plan dates must start on a Sunday and end on a Saturday.
- Plans can be as short as 1 week or as long as 52 weeks.
- You can end your WorkShare plan early if your situation changes, but it can’t exceed 52 weeks.
Which employees are included
When you submit your application, you need to identify which employees will participate:
- Only permanent full- and part-time employees can be included. Seasonal employees are not eligible.
- Specify employees by group (a company, facility, department, shift, job function, or another easy-to-define group with at least 2 employees). All employees in the defined group need to have the same percentage of reduced hours.
- Provide the name and Social Security number of each participating employee.
- If the employees are in a union, union officials must agree to the WorkShare plan. You will need their signatures to complete your application.
