Description
Dean Pond is an 11-acre impoundment of Foskett Mill Stream located off of Dean Pond Road in Brimfield State Forest. Dean Pond has an average depth of 4 feet, a maximum depth of 10 feet and the waters are brownish with a transparency of 5 feet. The bottom is soft muck and much of the pond near the dam has been silted in; aquatic vegetation is common. The entire shoreline lies within Brimfield State Forest and is undeveloped except for a state beach and pavilion which are currently closed.
Recreational access
The Department of Conservation and Recreation (DCR) manages a small parking area just down stream of the dam from which the shore can be access for fishing (get directions). One can also park across the street from the entrance to the Dean Pond Recreation Area, which is closed and walk in past the gate roughly 250 yards to the water (get directions). No boats are allowed on Dean Pond but the entire shoreline is open to fishing and the pond is small enough so that most of the water can be fished from shore. Please contact the DCR offices of Brimfield State Forest for additional information, fee structure, and/or restrictions pertaining to public access of Dean Pond.
