History of Net State Tax Versus Allowable State Tax Revenue.
This object is a line graph showing the comparison and history of allowable state tax revenues and net state tax revenues from 1987 all the way up to 2025. More information in caption.
The graph shows that both amounts have typically steadily increased over the years, starting at approximately $8 billion for both amounts in 1987 to approximately $48 billion for allowable state tax revenues and approximately $43 billion for net state tax revenues in 2026. Net state tax revenue has only out paced the allowable state tax revenue twice, in 1987 and 2022.
