Description

Dudley Pond is a 91-acre Great Pond located on the western edge of Wayland near West Plain St. The shores of the pond are heavily developed with residences.

Recreational access

The town of Wayland manages a gravel cartop launch off of Dudley Road on the eastern shore (get directions). Parking is available for a few cars near the ramp, please obey all parking signs. A second cartop launch with some shore fishing is at Mansion Beach at the corner of Mansion Rd. and Lake Shore Drive on the western shore (get directions). Parking here is roadside; please obey all parking signs. Please contact the town of Wayland for additional information and/or restrictions pertaining to public access of Dudley Pond.

Most of this parking lot serves a local business so be sure to obey all parking signs when visiting Dudley Pond at this access.

This gravel launch is off of Dudley Road and behind a gate but one can carry around to reach the water.

The western shore extending from the beach up Lake Shore Drive is in the road Right-of-way affording some shore fishing opportunities particularly if wading.

Fish populations

The following fish species were found during MassWildlife surveys:

  • largemouth bass
  • chain pickerel
  • common carp
  • yellow perch
  • bluegill
  • pumpkinseed
  • brown bullhead
  • yellow bullhead

Fishing

Dudley Pond has produced largemouth bass, smallmouth bass, northern pike, chain pickerel, yellow perch, black crappie, bullhead, and sunfish that meet minimum sizes for recognition by the Freshwater Sportfishing Awards Program.
