Overview
East Beach is located on Chappaquiddick Island in Martha’s Vineyard. The Division of Marine Fisheries (DMF) got the property in 1993. DMF preserves fishing access to the legendary Wasque Point surf-fishing waters. Bluefish and striped bass are common targets among recreational fishermen.
The property surrounds over 100 acres and a half mile of prime beachfront. The beach links the Wasque Reservation and the Cape Poge Wildlife Refuge. The Trustees of Reservations manages the area. The group applies a coordinated ecological management effort to the barrier beach ecosystem.
Directions
From Chappaquiddick Island ferry dock, travel on Chappaquiddick Road until the road turns sharply right. Continue heading straight on Dike Bridge Road. Park before or after the bridge.
You can also access the beach via the Wasque Reservation entrance. Follow Chappaquiddick Road to the end and then take a left onto Pocha Road. Pocha Road takes you to the entrance to Wasque. Click here to get directions from your location.
