Description
Eddy Pond is a 100-acre great pond and impoundment of Dark Brook, located off of South Street in Auburn. Eddy Pond has an average depth of 3.5 feet, a maximum of 17 feet and aquatic vegetation is common. Much of the southern half of the pond is less that two feet in depth, riddled with stumps, and covered with dense beds of aquatic vegetation during summer making boating difficult to impossible. The northern half of the pond is deeper but submerged vegetation is still abundant; be on the look out for stumps. The western shoreline of Eddy Pond parallels interstate 395 while the eastern shore is only lightly developed.
Recreational access
The town of Auburn manages a concrete boat ramp suitable for trailered craft off of South Street (get directions). There is parking space for approximately 6 trailered vehicles and numerous cars. Shoreline access is provided at the ramp and further north along the eastern shore via foot paths emanating from the parking area. Please contact the town of Auburn for additional information, fee structure, and/or restrictions pertaining to public access of Eddy Pond.

Fishing
Eddy Pond has been known to occasionally yield good size largemouth bass. Fishing becomes difficult by late spring when aquatic vegetation fully emerges. The best fishing should be in early spring for bass and pickerel and weedless hooks are almost a must. Abundant yellow perch and black crappie have also been reported by ice fishermen. Eddy Pond has produced largemouth bass, chain pickerel and black crappie that meet the minimum size for recognition by the Freshwater Sportfishing Awards Program.
