Ezekiel Pond

Description

Ezekiel Pond is a small, 42-acre great pond with an average depth of 8 feet and a maximum depth of 21 feet. Transparency is about 13 feet and submerged vegetation is common. The water is known to be very acidic. The one mile of shoreline is developed with year round residences and summer cottages.

Recreational access

Since Ezekiel Pond is considered a great pond under the Colonial Ordinances of 1641-1647, anglers can pass on foot over unimproved land to access the pond for fishing. Anglers may be able to find parking along Bourne Road and pass on foot over unimproved land to gain entry. Otherwise, one will have to unload and find parking elsewhere. Please contact the southeast district offices of MassWildlife for additional information and/or restrictions pertaining to public access of Ezekiel Pond.

Fish populations

The following fish species were found during MassWildlife surveys:

  • largemouth bass
  • chain pickerel
  • yellow perch
  • brown bullhead
  • pumpkinseed
  • banded killifish
  • banded sunfish

Fishing

Abundant populations of yellow perch, largemouth bass and chain pickerel offer attractive fishing opportunities. Ezekiel Pond has produced chain pickerel and yellow perch that meet minimum sizes for recognition by the Freshwater Sportfishing Awards Program.
