Below are answers to questions related to monitoring of funded programs.

Table of Contents

How will I know what we met or did not meet during a monitoring visit?

Your Funded Program Monitor will conduct an exit interview with you to review any requirements that were not met and to provide any technical assistance to help you and your staff to meet those requirements. This is also an opportunity for you to ask your Monitor any questions you have about the Funded Program Requirements.

How will I know who my Funded Program Monitor is?

Your Funded Program Monitor will be reaching out to you, either by phone or via email, to introduce her/himself and to schedule your initial announced visit. You can find the Funded Program Monitor assigned to your region at www.mass.gov/guides/eec-funded-programs

How long do Funded Program monitoring visits last?

The length of time spent on a monitoring visit will vary depending on several factors, including whether it is an initial or a follow up visit, how big the program is, and how many requirements are met or unmet.

Will I know when my Funded Program Monitor is coming for a visit?

All initial visits will be announced, meaning that your Funded Monitor will work with you to schedule the visit. All follow-up visits and consequent annual visits will be unannounced.

Who will see the monitoring visit reports?

EEC is now required to post the results from all inspection reports on our website.

We already receive visits for grants. How many visits should we expect? Can they be combined?

EEC is required to conduct at least one annual monitoring visit to each funded program and provider.

What will EEC be looking for when the Funded Program Monitor comes for the visit?

The purpose of the annual monitoring visit is to support program staff and monitor ongoing compliance with specific health and safety conditions called Compliance Requirements. Your Funded Program Monitor will provide technical assistance and will inspect the environment, provider practices, and any required documentation. The Compliance Requirements, policies, and a self-assessment checklist to help you better prepare for these visits for Funded Programs are available on the EEC website at www.mass.gov/guides/eec-funded-programs.
