Description
Indian Lake is a 204-acre great pond situated in the northern part of Worcester between Interstate 190 and Route 122A. Indian Lake has an average depth of 8 feet, a maximum depth of 19 feet and the waters are typically turbid and have periodic algal blooms. The bottom is muck and rock and the shoreline is heavily developed with residential dwellings and commercial buildings. Water levels at Indian Lake vary seasonally as a result of an annual winter drawdown so take care when boating.
Recreational access
The city of Worcester manages a paved boat ramp suitable for trailered craft at Morgan Park, off of Grove Street (Route 122A) on the southwest shore (get directions). The parking area can accommodate approximately 20 cars. Cartop boats may also be carried in over beaches and launched at Indian Lake Park off of Sherburn Ave. on the eastern shore (get directions) and Shore Park off of Shore Drive on the northern shore (get directions). Parking at shore park is ample but the lot is open only when the beach is open to swimming. Parking at Indian Lake Park is roadside and shore fishing is possible at all access locations. Please contact the city of Worcester for additional information and/or restrictions pertaining to public access of Indian Lake.

Fishing
Indian Lake supports an ample panfish population including yellow and white perch and especially black crappie, which provide plenty of recreational fishing opportunities. Common carp are also abundant and average between 5 and 10lbs. Most of the carp in Indian Lake appear to be of the “mirror” variety, displaying only a few large scales. Carp put up an excellent battle and can provide plenty of excitement when hooked on light spinning tackle. Indian Lake has produced largemouth bass, northern pike, yellow perch, white perch, sunfish, bullhead and black crappie that meet minimum sizes for recognition by the Freshwater Sportfishing Awards Program.
