Information for nursing home staff regarding RegalCare and DPH actions

Staff working at RegalCare nursing homes will undoubtedly have questions about what the RegalCare actions by DPH will mean for them and for daily operations and resident care. Find information that may be helpful for employees as the regulatory process moves forward.

Is my nursing home closing?

This DPH action does not require residents to move, and the facilities are not being ordered to close.

Should I continue reporting to work?

Unless you have been notified otherwise by your employer or authorized facility leadership, you should continue to follow your established work schedule and employment procedures. This DPH action does not automatically change individual employee work schedules. If you have questions about your specific assignment, please contact your supervisor or facility administrator.

Am I going to lose my job?

We understand that employees may be concerned about their jobs. This DPH action does not mean that any employees will lose their positions. Your employer is responsible for communicating employment-related decisions.

Will I continue to be paid?

Your employer remains responsible for meeting their wage and payment obligations. For questions about payroll or benefits, please contact your payroll or human resources department.

What should I do if I believe residents are not receiving appropriate care? How can I report a complaint?

Staff can report to the DPH healthcare facility complaints line at (800) 462-5540.

Who is responsible for running the facility now?

The facility’s current operational leadership continues to responsible for operating the facility. Employees should continue to follow directions from authorized facility leadership, consistent with their professional responsibilities.

Who will run the nursing homes if RegalCare is no longer allowed to operate them?

No final revocation has occurred, and the Department’s current action does not require the facilities to close or residents to relocate. If the administrative process results in a final revocation, DPH will evaluate the appropriate next steps under state law, with resident health, safety, and continuity of care as the main considerations. The priority is to protect residents and minimize disruption to care.
