Judicial Outreach Month

March is Judicial Outreach Month in Massachusetts.

Since 2017, Massachusetts judges have participated each March in outreach activities as part of the American Bar Association’s National Judicial Outreach Week. In 2019, the Trial Court expanded the program into a month-long initiative, creating more opportunities for engagement with schools, libraries, senior centers, and community groups.

Judicial Outreach Month (JOM) aims to strengthen public understanding of the court system across the Commonwealth. Throughout the month, judges and other judicial volunteers meet with community groups of all ages to discuss how courts work, highlight the role of an impartial and independent judiciary, build relationships with local communities, and answer questions.

JOM focuses on civic education and community engagement with schools, libraries, and community organizations. Past visits include middle and high school classes, Boys & Girls Clubs, cultural associations, councils on aging, and other community-based groups.
